Livelihood Centre for Disability & Development Program (LCDDP) Pakistan in collaboration with Sightsavers International and HANDS organized Job Fair 2017 to promote and facilitate access of Persons with Disabilities to livelihood opportunities on April 13, 2017 at Hotel Margalla in Islamabad. More than 300 skilled and qualified persons with disabilities (males and females) in a range of fields participated in the Job Fair and went through on the spot interview and assessment by HR teams of Employer Organizations. Many job seekers attending the Job Fair were having qualifications up to Masters and MPhil level. On the other hand, candidates who had completed 12 or 14 years of educations were e trained in IT field, (hardware, software, programming and designing), Finance and Accounts, and other employability skills to perform various jobs in public and private sector organizations. More than 20 employer organization from the private sector including; Food Chains, Hotel Industry, Textiles industry, Telecom sector, National and International Market Research companies, Multinational Companies, Pharmaceutical sector, Development sector and INGOs participated in the event to offer Job Opportunities, internship opportunities and on job training to the persons with disabilities. In his remarks, the Executive Director LCDDP, Mr, Imran Nazir shared that overall objective of this activity was to create awareness about the potential and abilities of persons with disabilities and facilitating and promoting access to the employment opportunities. He further stated that the economic empowerment is the key to social inclusion of persons with disabilities in the mainstream society and best way to facilitate them to enjoy basic human rights by fully participating in the mainstream society. In her message country director Sightsavers, Mrs Munazza Gillani; said that we have a strategic partnership history with LCDDP and have been collaborating with LCDDP on many fronts for employment of persons with disabilities. This partnership has brought an invaluable insight and learning for our team for searching the actual involvement of PWDs in our development. We are proud of our partnership with LCDDP that aims for the improvement of quality of life of PWDs. This is being achieved through different inclusive community development initiatives and awareness raising activities. Today’s event is one of such collaborative initiative. I must confess economic empowerment of PWDs was initially a missing link in our rehabilitation framework. Later through our partnership with LCDDP, we realized it’s an important route towards real empowerment of PWDs. Now we strongly believe that Economic Empowerment of PWDs is the key for the social inclusion and representation in decision-making process at individual and communal level. Speaking on the occasion Mr. Sarwat Mirza from HAND; said that it is a wonderful and successful event, usually Persons with disabilities face discrimination and barriers that restrict them from participating in society on an equal basis with others in day to day life.. They are denied of their rights to be included in the general school system, to be employed, to live independently in the community and to move freely. Thank you for including HANDS into Job Fair. LCDDP has done an excellent job and I am looking forward to working with LCDDP in the future.
FPCCI Standing committee social welfare and special persons Chairman Mr. Abbas Hashmi appreciated the efforts of the LCDDP for their constant struggle and dedicated efforts to economically empowering persons with disabilities for social inclusion in the mainstream society. At the end of the event, organizers distributed Souvenirs amongst the employer organization as a token of appreciation and dedication.

In the last but not the least he extended very special thanks to brilliant, skilled and talented youth with disabilities who have not only demonstrated and proved their skills but have also shown a strong motivation to take any job and responsibility to become a contributor for wellbeing of their families in particular, society and beloved country at large, hand in hands with Others.
